The ONE League is a full-season league that provides elite level volleyball to athletes in the Toronto area. The season runs end of September to March, and offers professional referee's, high quality venues, and varsity game-play style competition. The ONE League currently offers one division of competition.

Format 

  • 4 men's and 4 women's teams per division

  • Teams are made and entered by a captain

  • Matches are best 3/5

  • All matches are played at Ryerson - Kerr Hall

Registration for the ONE League closes September 14th at midnight. Registration is not accepted on a first come, first serve basis - the top 4 teams based on our rating system will be accepted. Once registration closes, you will be notified within 48 business hours if your team has been accepted into the League. This process allows us to ensure meaningful competition and to provide the highest level possible to our participants. 



Rules and Regulations

Team fee

Registration per team is $3,000 for guaranteed 13 matches. Your fee is payable in full at time of registration. You may pay by e-transfer to info@onevolleyball.org or credit card online (available on the registration page). Note that credit card payments are subject to a 6% processing fee.

UNIFORMS

All teams must have proper uniforms with numbers on the front and back of your jersey, and an alternate colour libero jersey. Athletes must wear the same colour shorts. 

WAIVER

All NEW athletes must sign the online waiver prior to playing in the ONE League. Athletes only need to sign this once for all ONE VOLLEYBALL events in 2018. New waivers must be signed in 2019.

ROSTERS

Full team rosters must be submitted by the registration deadline. Rosters are unlimited. Players need to compete in a minimum of 6 games to be eligible for playoffs and finals. 

Rosters are submitted to the League Organizer each week before matches begin. 

Subs

Teams are able to add substitutions to their roster during the season in the event they are short one week. Once an athlete has joined a roster for one team, he/she is not eligible to sub on another team in the ONE League. Teams are entitled to 2 roster additions/subs per week. 

USAV Rule adpations

ONE Volleyball has adapted the USAV serving rule for libero's.

Basic overview: The libero may serve for one athlete only in a set, and does not have to exit the court for a rally after leaving position 5, to go and serve in position 1. The libero may, but is not required to serve for that athlete in all subsequent rotations. 

The ball may also be played off the ceiling.

Match logistics

Teams must have a minimum of 6 players on the floor at one time. Your roster for the match must be submitted to the Supervisor before the match begins. Matches are best 3/5, unlimited subs and 2 timeouts per game. 

Warmup: Teams will have access to the gym to warm up 30 minutes before their match begins - a standard 5/5 team warmup will be called by the Referee 10 minutes prior to the match start time. 

Defaults: If a team does not have a full line-up by the time the match is supposed to start, a 5-minute default rule is in effect at which point the team defaults the first set 0-25. After this, the team has 10 additional minutes per set to produce a full line-up - each defaulted set produces a score of 0-25, with the fifth being 0-15.

If a team does not have a proper set of jerseys for competition, they default their match 0-25, 0-25, 0-25. 

REFEREES

All matches will have one Referee provided who is also responsible for keeping score. There are no lines judges assigned to matches, unless one or both teams provide them.

REFUND POLICY

Teams wishing to withdraw their entry before September 14th will receive a full refund. Teams withdrawing after September 14th will not receive a refund. 

Relegation / Promotion

At this time, the ONE League can only accept 4 teams to Div 1. We will do our best to add additional divisions in following years. In the event a team drops out prior to the start date, the next highest rated team will be added to Div 1. Teams who are not accepted to the League will be refunded their Team fee in full on or before September 28th. 

Note: to re-claim your position in a division the following season, teams must retain a minimum of 5 athletes from their previous season's roster. In the event a team retains only 4 or less of their original roster, they default their position from the previous season, and are ranked solely based on their team make-up as noted in our rating system
